About Us

The Tarheel Golden Retriever Club of North Carolina was established in 2005. It was created to support the Golden Retriever breed in North Carolina.  The club is a non-profit organization and is a member club of the Golden Retriever Club of America. In 2012, we achieved license status with the American Kennel Club, eligible to hold Golden Specialty shows.
The Goals of the Tarheel Golden Retriever Club

The club was established to help encourage and promote quality in the breeding of our Golden Retrievers through public education as well as educational opportunities offered to our members.

We promote competition in all sporting and other competitive events relative to the breed. Sportsmanlike conduct of our members is encouraged when they are participating in any dog-related activities.

We encourage all members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA).

We work closely with rescue organizations and actively participate in rescue efforts.

Club Activities

We organize various activities throughout the year which include training, educational seminars, shows and trials.  We also enjoy annual social events such as our Awards Dinner to honor our Goldens’ achievements from the previous year.   Visit our activities and events page for details.
